What is the significance of your derby name and number?

I wanted to use a name of a badass women from history, who was not confined by gender roles. When I was young, Amelia Earnhart was a role model.

What do you do when you are not skating?

I have a busy life filled with working in politics and trying to be the coolest Auntie in the world!!

What keeps you motivated to keep skating?

My job can be pretty stressful so derby provides me with an opportunity to decompress. It also gives me a community filled with empowering people.

What is the best advice you would give to someone who wants to join derby or what was the best advice given to you?

It is a space where you can come as you are and be part of an amazingly supportive community. Just be yourself and support your team members.

If you had six months with no obligations or financial constraints, what would you do with the time?

Go back to Norway. Actually, all of Scandinavia! I spent 6 weeks studying in Norway and it was not enough time. I would spend 6 months exploring all of the nature and hike every day. I would visit political and historical sites just to nerd out.

Name three interesting/ random facts about yourself.

  1. I was swim team captain in high school.
  2. While I studied at University of Washington, one of my majors was in Scandinavian Studies, which included taking two years of Norwegian.
  3. Once upon a time I was a massage therapist.
