What is the significance of your derby name and number? Whiskey is my drink of choice and I’ll always be wantin’ one at the end of the day. #70 is actually my husband’s high school football number. So I stole it.
What do you do when you are not skating? I work full time. Volunteer at my daughters’ school and my days off. I love to cook and bake but my family is all super picky eaters. My daughters are always helping me in the kitchen. We do a lot of arts and crafts together in an attempt for me to find my artistic side.
What made you decide to join roller derby? I’ve been working full time and attending college part time for seven and a half years. I always that it looked so cool. I finally achieved my bachelor’s degree in the winter of 2017 and my husband surprised me with a pair of skates for graduation.
What is the best advice you would give to someone who wants to join derby or what was the best advice given to you? I couldn’t even stand up on skates when I started. Everyone is so patient and willing to work with you and for you. Don’t give up on yourself, if you want to do it then do it.
What is your favorite ’90’s song and why? Eve 6, This is the open road song. After high school I moved myself to San Diego and that was one of the few cd’s I owned. I drove the open roads and sang along!
Name three interesting/ random facts about yourself. We don’t eat store bought jam in my house, only homemade. I have a large stash of canning supplies. I attended the Le Cordon Bleu school in Portland but have such picky eaters I rarely get to practice my fancy skills. I’m one of three children and all of us have a first born child who’s name begins with a C.
