What is the significance of your derby name?
My middle name is Liberty and my daughter came up with Belle. It fits, considering that both the Liberty Bell and I are currently fractured.

What do you do when you’re not skating?
Zumba! I’ve been a licensed Zumba instructor since 2011. When I’m not at Zumba, I’m most likely hanging out with my family. Hiking in the Gorge, shuffling kids to school, choir, band, or helping out at the school. I love books, movies, music, and crafty things.
What made you decide to join roller derby?
It was a spur of the moment decision. I had some major life changes happen this past year and I just decided it was now or never.
What keeps you motivated to keep skating?
I feel like I learn something new every day. Whether it is from a veteran skater, a new skater, or just someone who isnt a skater and has questions about it.
Who is your derby crush/hero?
I’m new the derby world. Honestly… the ladies of Storm City inspire me to become better. I have never been involved in something that has this much support, encouragement, and acceptance as SCRG. I admire different people for different reasons. Every one of the ladies I’ve met on this team are my hero.
What is the best advice you would give to someone who wants to join derby or what was the best advice given to you?
The best advice I can give someone is to just do it. Come to a practice, check it out, dont quit, and that a smile will go a long way. Best advice? Dont be too hard on yourself. It takes a lot of courage to do a sport of this magnitude. Be proud of yourself for strapping on those pads and lacing up those skates. Above all else – your presence on the team matters and TRUST YOUR COACHES.
