What do you do when you are not skating?
I work full time as a nurse practitioner, raise 2 kids, ages 3 and 10, and I am an avid quilter.
What made you decide to join roller derby?
I loved skating as a kid. I was on a competitive figure skating team until our rink closed when I was 12 or so. The instant I learned there was a local roller derby league I signed up.
What keeps you motivated to keep skating?
I like the camaraderie. It’s challenging with so many things to learn. Did I mention I love roller skating? It’s as close to flying as I can get.
Who is your derby crush/hero?
Scald Eagle blew my mind the first time I saw her Jam. She jumped a corner and I thought she had wings. It was beautiful!
What is the best advice you would give to someone who wants to join derby or what was the best advice given to you?
It’s not as scary as it looks. Be brave!
If you could be any super hero/villain who would you be and what would be your power?
I’m a mom, a wife, and I work full time…that is a super power! I need a cape and unitard to complete the Look.
If you had six months with no obligations or financial constraints, what would you do with the time?
See the world! Preferably the warmer parts of the world that can be seen from a hammock. I have a long list of books I would like to read. I would take an afternoon nap every single day.
What is your favorite ’90’s song and why?
Love Rollercoaster by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It brings back fond memories of old friends and times past. It’s also great for dancing to and singing in the car.
Name three interesting/ random facts about yourself.
